Amaro Petrus Boonekamp has been produced for centuries according to the ancient original recipe of the Dutch Boonekamp family.

Petrus Boonekamp, an illustrious Dutch liqueur maker born in 1734, first produced this bitter in 1777 in Leidschendam by infusing rare plant substances collected on all continents. Since then, the fame of Petrus Boonekamp bitter has spread rapidly throughout the world.

Many are the herbs that go into the composition of Petrus bitter. Among others, Alpinia Galanga, Angelica archangelica, Gentian lutea and many precious spices from all over the world.

A mix of herbs and spices dosed with wisdom and an alcohol content of 45 degrees. The first without sugar. In a word, very bitter.

Petrus Boonekamp was born in Holland in the 18th century, at a time when the most powerful European fleet, the Dutch East India Company, imported herbs and spices then unknown to Europeans.

In 1777, from a selection of these herbs, in a small shop in Leidschendam the liqueur maker Petrus Boonekamp invented the world's first completely sugar-free bitter.

This is Petrus Boonekamp, the Bitter One.
